This is like old school war black metal. As the record artwork shows it, these Germans are fascinated by two things, Satan and their hate of Christ and total destruction. Ok, that’s actually three things. Matter of fact, Genocide doesn’t bother developing philosophies of hate and division; they straight up say; ‘We must secure the total extermination of all races and a future of nonentity’. Hey, at least they can’t be tagged as racists. Regardless, I had one hell of a time searching for information regarding this band. Even their label’s site offered very little information, basically nothing besides the year of foundation (2005), their country of origin (Germany) and line up (bassist and vocalist Plague, guitarist and vocalist Chaos and drummer Tsyrtec). Aside from that, this band’s discography include one demo tape (In Abhorrence of Mankind), a promo tape, a 7” EP Blasphemic Terrorism and this one I now hold in my hands; Apocalyptic Visions.

Which by the way sounds totally necro; totally fast, totally killer and totally old school. With the exception that the recording itself though lacking a substantial and heavy bottom end is quite crisp and clear. The guitar work is sloppy and not really lighting fast for today’s standards, but had this come out back in 1988, this dude Chaos would have been a demigod.  His work is quite blunt; focusing in typical black metal riffing and ignoring solos completely, while the drum work of Tsyrtec is quite necessary. I mean the dude couldn’t have played it any other way; Plague sings with his throat; his voice is a corrosive cold yet strong gasp. Genocide play it good, very proper. It’s just perhaps too standard to stand out amongst the rest.
