THIS WILL DESTROY YOU

Getting tired of the whole post rock thing yet? Sick and to the point of throwing up with the wave instrumetal bands that are inundating your city with their non-sense lack of vocals and void of big guitars? Missing all that ol’ guitar shredding so much you cry yourself to sleep?  Well, take a deep breath and get ready, because the whole thing, scene or whatever you wanna call it, is just getting bigger and bigger. It is not going away.

Metalheads are impatient people. I mean metal was based around being impatient and demanding an immediate payoff. The raid exhaustion of every cliché that comes with the genre (all the fads; from grunge to cock rock, girl jeans, breakdowns, corpse paint, just to name a few) are the first proof of that. Not surprising then that bands like this Texas ambient will probably be more embraced by indie rock lovers than beefed up thirty year olds who still think Pantera is like the greatest band ever. Those will hate this shit.

Everyone else will be split. But the patient will be rewarded. Assuming you know and like Explosions in the Sky and have at least one album from Isis, then I’d recommend this Texan quartet. Considering you know all that; what it is about, the soaring, the growing, the shrinking and minimizing, the crouching, the jumping, the skipping and hoping, the loud and soft, the dynamics, the moody and the bi polar, the controlled and the anarchic.  Assuming you know that music needs no vocals to say something, just a guitar that wails, that bends, bleeds and blends, some airs of Mogwai and some airs to keep the matters flowing. Assuming you like all that, I recommend you This Will destroy You.
