How
do I make a full review of a tape recording that’s just
three songs. Typically, I just talk a lot of shit, which
the cover artwork for this band truly gives me enough
fodder for. And I mean, if a full collage of sliced
dicks isn’t the most appetizing thing then I don’t know
what is. But you would really have to take a close look
to even realize that. In the beginning I just thought it
was fingers, sliced fingers randomly displayed for full
effect on top of the purple foldout insert, but the
penis on the left, with its circumcised hood kinda gave
itself away.
I am not
very sure what is happening on the second panel. I see a lot of
hair. It could be pubic hair, but the dark botch of I don’t know
what prevents me from going into a frenzy.
I know very
little about SQRM. I believe they are from Massachusetts and I
believe they are fucking depraved but that’s just shit based on
all the dicks of Fuck to Survive. Plus, their blog states that
one shall only believe what is posted there, because ‘everything
else is bullshit’, which leads me to believe they have generated
quite a bit of trash talk and/or they truly think they are
possessors of the only truth of humanity.
Musically,
Fuck to Survive is stellar. I’d give it 5 sparrows if only there
were at least three more songs of the same intensity of the ones
included here. “Succubus” starts off with almost a whisper and
then SQRM just go for the gold with totally simplistic but
highly visceral enraged hardcore. The guitars seem strummed and
out of tune, which fits the spit in your face quality of the
vocals while “You’re Addicted” might go unnoticed if you blink.
The title
track is amazing; pure, raw punk rock of elemental musicality.
If music this simple can be this good, why do all those
beginners suck so many dicks? Maybe because they don’t have the
balls, which actually brings us full circle to the cover of Fuck
to Survive. Man, I wish I could set my Google alerts to shoot me
a warning everytime this band puts out a release limited to 22
copies. I’d be all over that bitch in a second.
