Undeath – Lesions of a Different Kind (Welcome the New Lords of Rotting Death Metal)

I knew this was going to be some sordid puke when I scoped the cover. I’m not even sure what the hell’s going on in it but I like it. Like is it some living cave that gave birth to a pseudo-human android slime or something? How can you cut off someone’s head with a hammer? There’re just so many questions I have about it I could spend all day making an intro out of it, but let’s move on to see what this new one by Undeath, Lesions of a Different Kind has to offer to the death metal trash heap.

Let’s be short because you don’t need more, trust me. Undeath is the new vanguard of death metal. Rochester, NY, is the new mecca of the entire scene. Don’t believe me? Then listen to Lesions of a Different Kind. Undeath have here, on their first album, kicked you in the protruded guts, as they like to say. The riffs are sunken in mud, the vocals are angry and drowned, the bass bubbling like dead animals in a marsh, and the solos screeching like turkey vultures over it all. It’s a completely disgusting pile of decay that absolutely no one should listen to and too bad for you but the bone marrow splatter vinyl is already sold out.
