Rvbber VVitch – Mastvrbations Malveillantes MMXVII (Violations of the Pee-Pee Region Industrial Black Metal)

Sometimes you can just tell by a band’s name and the title of an album that you’re in for something not just different, but foul to the extreme. So foul you’re pretty sure fingers have violated your most sensitive areas. This is not so easy to do when going for the u-as-v and w-as-two-vs aesthetic, which Canada’s Rvbber VVitch keenly chose as her path to becoming a creeper. Toss in malevolent masturbation (also with various V spellings), and the path becomes rocky to the point of cut and bleeding feet. As such when I first began to spin Mastvrbations Malveillantes MMXVII I knew it would either be a most rewarding, or a most impotent experience that even digital manipulation from a skilled violator could not make erect.

Rvbber VVitch violates the pee-pee region of so many genres it’s nearly impossible to peg down any of it with clarity or remember exactly what parts she touched. Maybe the taint? Maybe my innocuous belly button that I mistook for a pleasure center? This works to the advantage of Mastvrbations Malveillantes MMXVII for the initial listen, but further investigations of the sound leave much touching to be desired. The sound is a thick sludge of human waste with a bass throbbing like so many excited vascular regions akin to industrial black metal, but lacking a clear vision. This likely sounds more negative than it is, for there is certainly much of “please stop hurting me” interest here, but with more grounding in its own themes, instead of presenting itself as a mere shelling of riffs and distortion without a clear target, Rvbber VVitch would likely find herself with a more fruitful discography that would make the listener require therapy.
