Depressive – We R Fuk”d (Updated Xerox Death Noise)

Whoah boiiii I’ve been waiting for a good release of this type for far too long damn. Noise albums have slammed now and then in the past year, don’t mistake my meaning, but they always suck at the art, stuck in some sort of old school Xerox aesthetic that honestly should die already. More important to the genre currently is the glitchy type of cut-and-paste programming that makes up works like We R Fuk”d by Depressive and which also gets the art better. It’s like updated Xerox or something.

This one is too complex to simplify, but I’m going to try it anyway. Depressive leans more towards the atmospheric in noise, less so the sik beetz that make you want to slam someone against a wall and then accept their physical response. As such, We R Fuk”d is an electronic nightmare of a self-aware computer that chose suicide. Voices are shattered like glass and dig into the ears while beats seem to create substance and then degrade into odd time signatures that destroy any sense of tempo. With its intricate sounds analogous to a floppy disc dying, this is a rare type of release these days. If I had any complaint, it would be that the track arrangement is diffuse, with one over eight minutes, but most far shorter. There is nothing that essentially links them other than electronic pain. Still, this is kind of part of what it’s about, so just take it and let it violate.
