Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt (Just Slaughter Everything Dark Battle Royale)

As we all painfully wait for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 to finally freaking be released, us vampire fanatics had to contend with admittedly good text-adventures on Steam, the news of an upcoming, and looking average RPG (Swansong) and, hmm, wait, a fooking battle royale just crush everything game? I get to use vampire powers in a limited sense, brutally slay other vampires, and feast upon humans in a limited amount of time and do it again and again and again to prove my worth to myself while being super toxic to n00bs? Yeah I’m in let’s see this Bloodhunt.

So yeah, I’ve played the LARP, I know the books (read most of them), so Bloodhunt was pretty much second-nature from the start. I didn’t worry about the lore because I live it. But seeing it in this form, in comparison to other adaptations of Vampire: The Masquerade, was a real treat. Bloodhunt is a simple battle royale. Your primary goal, and the focus currently, is to enter Prague with roughly 39 other players, gather weapons, use human blood for powers, and kill everyone while avoiding members of the Second Inquisition (look it up, provincial) and a mysterious entity that forces your movements into the center of the map. That’s it, couldn’t be simpler. But for any game of this nature, the fun is in learning how to work it. The current skillset is rather small (two per class out of four clans) and is utilized solo, in pairs, or in groups of three to be the last vampire(s) standing. Undoubtedly we can expect more skills, more things to unlock, more clans, and so forth in the future, but in its current, fresh kill state, Bloodhunt is a relaxing massacre set in the legendary World of Darkness. Now if I could only get one kill Jesus Christ.
