Detherous – Unrelenting Malevolence (Blatantly Blatant Death Thrash)

For a band that’s been around for almost a decade, I feel bad I didn’t know of Detherous until now. Why? Whatever, we’ll forget that mystery and instead focus on the blatant. This is blatantly death thrash. I’ve said it many times, sometimes you need your music as such. Just totally fooking obvious. I mean dig that early 1990s style cover art! This is the kind of shit you’d find in a flea market bargain bin in the early 2000s that made you feel cool to be pretty much the only person who knew about it.

Honestly, though, Detherous deserves more than to be but a footnote the truly elite add to the history of this trash posthumously. Like we don’t want Big Brother pretending it always there some day, you know? From the outset of Unrelenting Malevolence, the blatancy is true. The partially shrieked vocals are delivered with a slight echo, the drum churn, the guitars/bass rip, I mean this is what it’s all about right? If you want your death thrash unrelenting, and also malevolent, then you’re getting that. Beyond this is not something we’re even going to discuss, because this is blatant, so just take it for what it is and rip up some shit.
