Eskhaton – Horracle (Nihilistic Death Metal)

Holy…mahgucking…sheissefreide… I mean how else do I start this review? Never before has an EP assaulted me in such a way and satisfied so many dark desires in only five tracks. I usually see them thin-tracked promos and think ugggghhhh but I always give them a quick go. This was not a quick go. This was a repeated go until all flesh was melted. I mean fuccckkkkkk shit’s good.

Sometimes I never know what I’m going to get when I pop something in. This one looked like some death metal crap, you know. But Eskhaton are nihilistic chaos gods. In spite of being an EP, Horracle feels a lot longer, in a good way, specifically because you’ll listen to it about a billion times. The riffs wrap around your head, entangling and smothering with their twisting progression. Plus, there’s just so much power to it all it makes your blood seethe with raw energy. Practically a defibrillator applied to an often trite genre.
