Dryad – The Abyssal Plain (Occult Crossover Crust)

I wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this one. The cover has this primitive, war or occult death metal style, but wait is that supposed to be the Flying Spaghetti Monster or something? Like WTF? Where is this leading me?! Still anyone cool enough to name their band Dryad must have something to say, or rather play, so let’s give it a try and enter The Abyssal Plain and figure this shit out.

Whelp, time to come up with a new genre tag. How’s occult crossover crust? That’s all I got today. This team conjures up some serious creatures of the void for your listening pleasure. It’s prehistoric, yet evolved. Drawing from some monstrous Permian-Triassic extinction gone reanimated, The Abyssal Plain is archaic modernity. The inclusion of horror synth in a simplistic, darkwave style, as well as the frosted shrieking of lead Claw, are the fossilized clarity on this layered collection of ancient remains. Calling forth calamities commanded by extinct abominations, it’s the kind of thing that makes me write in pathetically pretentious allegory. So that means it’s good, please buy it.
