Sporae Autem Yuggoth – … However It Still Moves (Supernatural Death Doom)

When I see dot dot dot, I expect big things. Illegible logos, forget it, that’s meaningless these days. What I want is that dot dot dot. It implies depth of feeling, lamentation, thoughts of mortality… Now, however, at the same time, I don’t want that to including frikken thoughts on Lovecraft. For the love of god can someone pull out Saki or some shit? Get a bit more inventive! Jesus how much of that other nonsense do we need?! Thankfully, in spite of there being such an unspeakably trite theme within the work of Sporae Autem Yuggoth, …However It Still Moves proves a much more meaningful release in the end because you won’t notice it unless you similarly worship those aspects. Dot dot dot.

This one develops in curious ways. It has an ominous, dreary ambience, and slows, at times, almost towards the level of funeral, but never reaches a crawling pace, more like a glacier flattening you as it melts. The keyboards provide an eerie, commanding touch to the riffs, which can, at times, fall into chaotic combinations of riffing and solos, but never stray too far from their death roots, or their doom. As all this dark magic swirls about, the vocals, a key feature, remain the central arcanist leading the ritual. …However It Still Moves never feels spooky in an uninspired way, it’s a moss-covered tombstone that reveals deep-seated feelings of horror when its words are revealed.
