The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales (Intrepid Story-Slicing Privateer Simulator)

How does a night of transporting yourself into books, stealing key plot devices, and selling them to pay off your jail sentence sound? The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales is this and more, layering pages of different plots on top of each other in a top-down, point-and-click/turn-based combat action adventure. With a more than serviceable mystery at the center of it all, The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales is an excellent game with more than a few tricks up its sleeves.

The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales feels reminiscent of Psychonauts 2 mixed with Disco Elysium, where instead of jumping into minds as a deranged agent you jump into books and their unfolding plots. This makes for a multi-layered story. First, who you are out in “reality” and second, what the plot of the current book you were exploring is culminating to. If you’re a fan of wonderful storytelling, and enjoy some simple turn-based combat, The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales is a delightful indie gem that continues to surprise after every page.
