Body Void – Atrocity Machine (Physically Revolting Acid Metal)

This is like political, crusted, body horror sludge or something, or let’s just say acid metal. That’s the best I could come up with today, and thankfully I hit upon this in the emails because it came in a bit late. Got a few days late to scrunch it in there so let’s do it. Body Void have made a trending niche for themselves over the past few years, primarily due to their crushing sound, but they’ve reached new heights of physical terror with Atrocity Machine.

If you take a quick listen to work prior to 2021, you’ll find Body Void peddling the ole sludge (dig that thick bass). Starting in 2021, however, they began to experiment with noise and power electronics, though largely a background addition and somewhat superfluous. With Atrocity Machine, however, the noise is more central and dignified, if you can believe it. Body Void’s dense sludge still chains the listener and drags them through the rivers of muck they spew, but that noise, oh that noise! It’s like a chaotic whirl in the middle of it all, drawing you further down until you completely succumb to their caustic storm. It’s not just a noticeable addition to their previous approach, it’s purposeful, and damn does it rip. Whatever they’ve got planned for the future, be warned, it’s going to melt skin.
