Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (Emotional Supernatural Dark Fantasy)

 

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was one of my most anticipated games of 2023. Like many other video games, it never releases on the initial date and was delayed until this February of 2024. The wait was well worth it. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has not disappointed. The game is a story-intensive action-RPG heavily focused on investigation and choice-based decisions and consequences. The game follows the story of two main characters, Antea (once living) and Red McRaith, who are Banishers. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden offers sixteen main quests, which should take around 20 to 25 hours to complete. This does not count the completionists out there lol.

   

Banishers, of course, like many games, features side quests, here called “Haunting Cases,” where you’re forced to choose between the intentions of the living and the dead. The combat is a little lackluster, with the average R1 (light), R2 (heavy), and L1 (block/parry) mechanics for PlayStation controller players. Where the combat lacks, the story thrives graciously. I don’t want to give too much of the game away, but Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden captivated me from the beginning; I was automatically drawn to both Red and Antea five minutes in. This is a game you want to take your time with, think about the choices, and enjoy every moment.
