Abigail / Nekrofilth – Fuck in Hell’s Evil Bitches (Incorrect Grammar Blackened Thrash / Hardcore Punk)
I usually complain about splits, primarily because one band outweighs the other, but let’s forget about that today because this is not such a case. This is Abigail fools! The rulers of splits! The kings of splits! The god emperors of splits! The demiurges of splits! Say it how you want, but these guys practically invented the split and over half of their goddamn output is splits. So, obviously, they’re good at them, and pretty much one of the few bands I’d trust with the category. They’re released like 78 of the course of their careers! Jesus Christ! And they always seem to team up with the best for us scum lovers. This time around, it’s Nekrofilth and this is Fuck in Hell’s Evil Bitches! Don’t like the improper English grammar? No one cares.
I’ve heard several of Abigail’s split ventures, but this might be, seriously, my favorite. They bring their particular brand of actually scary Japanese blackened rock (call it thrash if you like), with melting echo scream all over the damn thing, separated wonderfully with the blackened hardcore punk of Nekrofilth, who splatter their vocals onto the floor, balancing the mix with some scuzz grooving of their own. My only complaint, sorry, is that damn Germs cover like wtffffff. I get the historic element of “Forming,” but goddamn I hate covers. Show me what you got, I don’t care about your take on someone else’s work. Remove that boil with a lance, which they could and should have done, and Fuck in Hell’s Evil Bitches would completely rip. It would have made the track spread even, too. But, hey, that’s what the skip button is for so thankfully it was invented long ago. Tear into this one regardless.
