Scumripper – For a Few Fixes More (Addict Blackened Thrashpunk)

I don’t think I’ve ever heard an album open as strong as Scumripper’s For a Few Fixes More. Everything about it arranges a stage they promptly set ablaze, consuming the audience in a gigantic fireball fed by the stagnant air of each track. I mean, what do you expect from something that opens with a song called “I Am the Trash of Evil Men?” So here they come, syringes swinging like swords, injecting their foul brand of blackened, thrashed-to-shit punk in your deep veins until they rupture. I’d say I just relapsed, but I’ve never done drugs. Is this what it’s like?

I’m pretty sure I clotted, probably had stroke too, after listening through For a Few Fixes More. I’ve never done drugs my whole life (totally swear), but now, I’m pretty sure I’m addicting to something, and whatever it is, it’s not good. Scumripper, in punk style, know how to have some fucking fun with what they do, but they do it with a brash edge that will scare newcomers to the scene. Songs like “I Cum Pain” will make the sickest of us chuckle, the raspy, strained vocals forging ahead for the lo-fi distortion of the rest, heating it up in a spoon and sticking it under the tongue. With a cover oozing with a ton of nonsensical shit (is that a tower of books on fire, a grim reaper riding a rat wave, and Kali?), For a Few Fixes More got me hooked. I need to find drugs now, because if it’s like this, it must be pretty cool.
