Clan Dos Mortos – Técnicas de Morte (Hardcore Nekropunk)

Horror punk is for the weak, do you hear me? What was once a scene of tongue-in-cheek scares that was kind of real scary now just looks like it’s for pussies. Stupid makeup, stupid Elvis lip shit, stupid hair, stupid Frankenstein references without knowing it’s the name of the student who isn’t even a doctor in the book. Horror punk sucks now. Why? Have you not heard of nekro-punk?! Or is it necropunk…or nekropunk… Perhaps also nekro/necrohardcore? Damn too many possibilities here… Anyway, it’s punk or the hardcore variety, about death. Dark as hell, angry about life, in the sense that they’d rather be dead. It’s pure cemetery worship with absolutely none of the kitsch. Go away rockabilly spooksters, you can’t handle this.

Curiously this Brazilian quartet actually started as a noise project some years ago, a bit of that being compiled into the first release of their junk by Sentient Ruin. But let’s forget about that and focus on the present, which is Técnicas de Morte. Clan Dos Mortos are a bratty 9-year-old who actually controls your life, and will probably stab you in your sleep. They lack empathy, they lack humanity, and they worship the necro. A notable feature of this band is their coldness. They never sound happy, and they’re not whining like the usual street punks following traditional forms who hate the system yet their one-day boycott doesn’t erase the fact they work at Target. Clan Dos Mortos isn’t angry, either, they’re just accepting of death, and willing it into existence. The energy is high, and your decomposition comes fast.
