Blood West (Horrifying Yee Haw Stealth FPS)

Gold dang got another rootin’, tootin’, retro FPS shootin’ title from the masters at New Blood Interactive! I’m a little late on this, but as I usually say videogames take a lot more time and energy to review. You can’t just sit through it, you have to take the time to really get into the play and see how it all works. A casual glance can miss intricacies, and issues lurking around the corner. Thankfully, in their latest one, Blood West, the only thing lurking around the corner are hideous terrors from beyond the grave. Old west, supernatural horror shooter? Let’s gooooo.
Most important detail to mention, for starters, is Blood West is a stealth FPS, not the usual run and destroy. It takes place in the old west and you control an outlaw, reanimated to purge the land of ancient, otherworldly evils. With its fine array of Native American mythos, disgusting beasts, immersive landscapes, great plot-building, and intricate play mechanics, it certainly comes packed to the bursting veins with a lot of shit. But the gameplay, yeaaah, it’s great. You can’t merely jump in there, guns a’ blazin’ like the usual boomer shooter, instead you have to carefully play your attacks, watch your inventory, and learn how to interact with the world to save your weary soul and get a few drinks before the reaper comes a’ swingin’. I’m getting tired of my stale Western humor too, so just do the devs behind this a nice favor and put some money into Blood West.
