Ruyned – Profanum Sacrificium (Irrepressible Badboy Death Speed Thrash)
I’ve been looking for something rather irrepressible, and lo and behold Romania has exactly what I needed in recent days, a trio of fresh-out-of-the-womb bad boys looking for love, breaking hearts, and taking virginity through Satanic rites without giving a shit after, leaving unsuspecting egirls in their wake. I believe I’d heard something of Ruyned before, but the memory escapes me, so let’s create some new ones with their latest full-length, Profanum Sacrificium. Though I’m still trying to figure why they’d use Golden Age Dutch art for the cover (I’d rather see their true form exemplified through a modern hand), it certainly fits the spectral gloom (and sexiness) they bring with their particular approach to death/speed/thrash.
I guess that can be one word now, but we’ll keep it separated as such until I find out. For now, what have we here? Ruyned careen through cemeteries with an exceptional amount of verve. One can image these Byronic heroes two-stepping over some tombstones along the way, with a crowd of ravenous, female ghouls following for one more taste of the action. The bass has a clear, old school ring chiming the coming of night, the riffs tear through virginal flesh with increasing energy, and the vocals maintain a pseudo-punk demeanor while shrieking like only the best of thrash Satanists. Being that these guys appear to be in their late teens, they’re setting up, over time, to become true bluebeards of this kind of metal, so give them some hails and prepare thy rituals.
