I judge bands on art and name. You usually can. So when along comes this one, naming themselves after a ship that itself is a word that means “fear nothing,” I expected my soul to be nourished by ethereal glory! Make me into a seraphim I command you! Make my skin shimmer in gold, fashioned into a malleable armor! Been a long, long time since I received any prog that actually progressed somewhere instead of sticking to the formulae. But here we have a champion, a leader ready to take the genre into the empyrean.

   

If I was going to thoroughly explain Wars of Spirit // Wards of Light I’d run out of space, and quickly. Dreadnought accomplishes a great deal here, so much that picking one particular segment is completely insufficient for a full picture, so I’ll have to rely on glittering generalities to do the trick.
