Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable (Immersive Anime Slay)

Hot damn it’s about time. I had enough of these scrub Roblox Attack on Titan games, only one of which was any good, but dreadful if you try to play on a phone. This kind of anime needed first-person, like 3D, in order to be good enough, and VR is the perfect, if not only, way that was going to even be possible. The company behind this one, UNIVRS Inc., has only one game to their name currently, the underappreciated Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing, and that’s not at all because I’m a rabid closet fan of the show who doesn’t want anyone to know, it’s because it’s ace. So when I heard they were going stronger, and more adult, with Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable, I was thrilled. Heavenly god for something still in Early Access this is damn fun.

What’s with all the comment hate on YouTube after trailers dropped? All I saw were people who apparently don’t understand the nature of VR graphics and the environment. Have you seen Gorilla Tag lol? VR graphics simply are not the same as upper-echelon Epic or Steam titles, because the capabilities are much different. Regardless, let’s focus on the goods of Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable. Recreating the world of the anime, you take control of a member of the Scout Regiment and your goal, after the expected tutorial, is to kill damn titans. Though only two chapters are available currently since it’s EA, the feeling of flying around with your mobility gear whilst slashing, anime-styled graphics, and integration of key characters into the plot, creates an immersive experience for what it currently is. I noticed very little jank, the titans, in particular, are generally intelligent, and sometimes quite dangerous, and other than some moments where more animation would be beneficial to the look, this game is a fooking blast. Just flying on rooftops and seeing the freaks looming over buildings is fun in itself, but the plot is currently well integrated into the rather simple quests and game mechanics are slick. UNIVRS Inc. has stated that a co-op mode and more chapters are coming soon, and considering what we have now this is a potential super hit for VR depending on where it goes next, and hopefully soon.
