Tetragrammacide – Cyber-Tantric Paradigm of Radical Sri-Vidya (Bestial Technological War Metal of Samsara)
I’m still going to call these guys the greatest sonic juggernaut in the history of India. It doesn’t matter what they do; demo, split, EP, compilation, full-length, they always annihilate any preconceptions of what constitutes “metal”. And they continue to do this with an absolutely brazen approach: they’re loud, inaccessible (to fledglings), violent, noisy, and confrontational. After a static-drowned intro that sounds like chanting in a native Indian tongue (I’m not versed in those languages, so forgive me if I’m assuming incorrectly), the bad boys do it again. Cyber-Tantric Paradigm of Radical Sri-Vidya combines an almost mechanistic approach to the raw, destructive force of black metal purity, bringing pure hate and fire upon one’s endless spin on the wheel of life.
I’ve always been curious how Tetragrammacide seems so capable of tapping into the deep recesses of the human mind. Their music is traditionally a bizarre, meditative approach to raw, bestial black/war metal. It’s not nirvana, but samsara. Most EPs work like a stopgap as we await better things, but here, we’re provided with a concentrated, meaningful assault that’s like a rite of passage for a new form of consciousness. Cyber-Tantric Paradigm of Radical Sri-Vidya is notable for its technological timbre, combined with the primal savagery for which Tetragrammacide is most known. There’s no single mood here, either, it’s rather a collection of three different incantations of humanity’s war-like nature swirling in a technological vortex. The mind is forced to pull some substance of melody out of the electronic bass, which is constantly smothered by overamplified riffs and vocals that rip apart the petty fabric of whatever speakers you dare blast this through. It’s something like a mantra giving form out of a sea of brutal distortion, or rather a complete state of nonexistence that obliterates spirituality with violence, creating a new religion out of the remains. Beware whatever they bring us next.
