Brahmashiras – Trinitite (Blackened Anarcho Celestial Punk)

 

Now here’s a nice combination of details that came together exactly as they probably would have. I don’t think anyone involved had a choice. Vladimir, Russia, is a relatively small city that most foreigners would know nothing about. But we’ll avoid the history and focus on this ferocious horror that comes from its streets, Brahmashiras (Брахмаширас in Russian, more closely Brakhmashiras when transliterated). Combining Hindi mysticism with crusty, blackened Russian attitude, this is one of the strongest releases to come out of the country in quite awhile. Anarchist perhaps, violent most certainly. This would seem to be something I’ve been waiting for for awhile. I feel like I needed this.

   

Trinitite (Тринитит), is the band’s debut full-length, and it certainly affirms its namesake, which, by the way, is a mineral of sorts that arose from a nuclear explosion in a New Mexico desert. Clever, because the band’s name is derived from a Hindi word meaning the most destructive, celestial weapon ever conceived. And this is the blast these guys deliver, complete with turning your soul into flaky ash. Combining an icy, post-nuclear frost over reckless, hardcore punk intensity, in spite of the rather short length of it, Trinitite is the kind of reckless hostility that encapsulates the nouveau riche punk needs these days, as a whole, to survive a few more decades minimum. This is violent punk enlightenment, fashioned from sleaze and venom, and delivered with an anarchist snarl. Ambrosia for the unrefined.
