Supernatural (Killer Housemaid Survival Puzzle Horror)
First and foremost, I have to give my respects to the lone developer who made a game that had me jumping like a grasshopper trying not to be squished. Whew, Steam reviews can be deadly. For a one-person operation, this game really brings the jump scare. But you have to actually pay attention for it to work on you—something I somehow managed not to do (lol typical). So if you find yourself in a similar situation as me, try to pay attention. As an investigator into the paranormal, you’re contacted by a young man who is trying to solve the mysterious disappearance of his housemaid, but as the story unfolds you find various horrifying truths in this combo survival horror puzzle title. There was a login and password conundrum that almost sent me over the edge. For the life of me, I could not uncover the elusive “Cowski.” typical of me not being able to find a password enough to make me want to scratch my eyeballs out literally. But aside from that, this game has a substantial amount of jump scares and a storyline that isn’t lackluster—if you can manage to keep up with it while simultaneously trying to locate that annoying password.
When you set the game to its highest visual quality, it really sparkles in some places. I mean let’s be real we didn’t pay but $8, this is not Ubisoft for Christ’s sake. For a game that costs that, you can’t really ask for anything approaching the “AAA” level of finish. But what you do get is a game that plays like a spooky puzzle and delivers on that promise. Sure, there are some rough spots, and certain things don’t work quite right, but they won’t wreck your experience. Supernatural definitely keeps you on your toes. One error, and it’s “game over.” You hear and see some seriously freaky stuff, but in classic horror-game fashion, it’s all just smoke and mirrors. You’ve got no weapons, so your only option is to run—you might as well scream while you’re at it. You either don’t know where you’re going or, worse, you think you do but really don’t, and all the while you can feel the hot and heavy breath of your pursuer as you (again) barely escape with your life. Pure and simple, you’re in a panic the entire time. You will die, simple lol. I did it several times. In sum, Supernatural is an acceptable game with only small problems that, in my opinion, don’t detract from the overall experience; however, the bugs could be a concern. If you’re at all interested in the spooky side of puzzle games, this is well worth your time and money. It might just cost you your rear end haha.
