Shewolff – We’re All Gonna Fukkin’ Die (Lycanthropic Metalpunk)

Does anyone really need to comment on a band called Shewolff with a cover spouting werewolf, coffin, and flaming swords as its imagery? I’d think not, but Jesus Christ you people demand words from me so you’re going to get them! Belgium’s Shewolff are one of those bands that suddenly bursts onto the scene and leaves their mark (in blood), or not, but this is probably the former based on this debut. They dished out a demo and then got signed to one of the biggest underground labels currently, Dying Victims Productions, which is an important clue. Repackage and rerecord a few of the demo cuts, add some more tracks, and call it a day, right? Well, there’s a lot more to We’re All Gonna Fukkin’ Die than that simple take. It’s set to burst your veins with pure, blackened, punk power!

Shewolff was already ripping skin to give room for the werewolf flesh with their demo, but damn We’re All Gonna Fukkin’ Die brings out the claws and teeth along with it and spreads lycanthropy without inflicting a direct bite. I’ve encountered a number of bands from this particular region, and I’m being very general there as I mean rather Belgium, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, etc., so it’s hard to pick the best out of all of them. If anything they’re sharing separate, but equal ranks in a growing army bringing about the 13th Gothic War (or is it the 14th?). Shewolff easily is in the upper echelons, however, with their biting drive, yet the ability to slow it down while keeping those teeth bared, such as in the track “Guillotines,” is an added surprise. Though it ends fast, We’re All Gonna Fukkin’ Die lives on, in your blood, making your hair bristle, stripping the flesh, and giving you full reason to howl at the moon.
