Svartsyn – Requiem (More of the Same Yet Better Black Metal)
Yeah, so like I was on a lull this week, and the last week, because 100% of the promos I received sucked and there was seriously nothing worth your time. So if anyone said there was they’re stupid and you should stop paying attention to them. So I had a conundrum at that point. […]

The Yellow Night (Brazilian Grind Art Horror)
Stop me if you’ve heard this: a group of teenagers travels to an isolated island for a debauched graduation party weekend. Disregarding oblique warnings from vaguely menacing locals, they arrive at one of the teens’ family estate. When someone goes missing, it becomes evident that something terrifying lurks in the shadows enshrouding the island. […]

Ritual Suicide – Nocturnal Haematolagnia (I Thought Those Guys Broke Up Raw Black Metal)
I thought those guys broke up? Ritual Suicide most certainly did call it the end in 2019, so what have we here in October 2020? Nocturnal Haematolagnia was finished before the band’s demise and we needed one last dose of this crazy Ukrainian black metal vampire attack before we called it quits, right? Perhaps, […]

Repuked – Dawn of Reintoxication (Swedeath with a Myspace Page)
Lol these fooking clowns. I knew Repuked was going to spew vomit from the moment I saw their name, followed by the album title, lol Dawn of Reintoxication, and then band photos where they clearly could give a shit with grocery bags left in the shot, a double-wide lawn chair, someone holding a foot […]

Sarcoptes – Plague Hymns (Two Bittersweet Tracks of Blackened Gothic Death Metal)
At first I thought there was something wrong with this promo. Two tracks of “death metal”, WTF? That’s practically single length, barely an EP in my books. But okay it’s an EP I guess. So here’s the thing about EPs. You have to prove yourself fast and hard or it’s all over. You hear […]

Häxenzijrkell – Die Nachtseite (Halloween Black Metal is Good)
Can this occult aesthetic hold out forever? It does for Halloween, at least, so why not black metal? And hey, we even have an orange and black theme for this one so quite fitting as we move into October. Witch, goat, cauldron, alchemical symbol for lead, skull, and some sword shit also. Yep, 20% […]

Laser Dracul – Hagridden (Moldy Old Dude Stoner Metal)
Well this was surprisingly good, holy shit. I mean don’t fault me too much because these guys are coming at you with lasers and some Dracula shit and, more importantly, they’re playing stoner/sludge/doom metal that usually collapses under the weight of stereotype. Said institutions have not done better in this regard, most often. So […]

Blackevil – Forever Baptised in Eternal Fire (They Meant to Spell it That Way Blackened Thrash)
This is a great example of an album I really hated at first but then love, but it’s not what you’d call a “grower,” it’s rather I didn’t entirely get it at first. First things first, they’re apparently using the British spelling of “baptise,” because I guess the Germans learn their English that way […]

Necrobarista (Deep Life Thoughts Ghost Cafe Game)
I wasn’t quite sure at first if Necrobarista was really something that would fit in around here; figured I’d have to put some spin on it to justify why I was reviewing what first appears an anime game about a coffee shop. Anime, good. Coffee shop, bad. Always bad. Didn’t you know? That could […]
Vaultwraith – Death is Proof of Satan’s Power LIMITED EDITION Cassette and T-Shirt
PREORDER TIME! Vaultwraith I reviewed some time back, and they have a new one that dropped this past year, but I was particularly interested in Death is Proof of Satan’s Power, which had yet to see cassette release. So, I’m doing a limited edition cassette version (with slightly different art and layout) that can […]
