The Ritual of Death (Satanic Splatter Horror)
Sometimes the shiniest bits of gold are tucked away in the dirtiest pockets of soot and slime. This analogy works with certain gore films, especially the late-80’s work of prolific South American pornographer Fauzi Mansur. Little is known on these shores about Mansur yet the man enjoys a small but fervent cult following to […]

Verminous Serpent – The Malign Covenant (Blackened Death Folk)
Uh oh, tis a collab folks. Well this review started out bad, but this particular collab starts, and also ends, well. Consisting of various members of the Irish koovault wvndergrovnd, Verminous Serpent is new to death metal theatre with this first full-length. Whether or not it continues beyond The Malign Convenant is not a […]

Sepulcrum – Lamentation of Immolated Souls (Spasmodic Death Metal)
You know, I was just talking to someone the other day about how Chilean metal has been blasting away for at least a decade now and keeps getting better! Seriously type in ‘Chile’ in the search bar on this site, hit that Enter button, and look at how much goodness we’ve covered over the […]

Psychic Teenage Bloodbath (LGBTQ Psychic Gore Revenge)
The title of this book describes exactly what you get. You can’t say you weren’t warned, this time! The story revolves around a girl named Susan, who’s in a coma and uses supernatural powers such as telekinesis and mind control in her destroying of humans. All of the homophobic bullies who put her in […]

Décryptal – Sabazios Culte (Cacophonic Death Metal)
Well these guys are certainly a spooky mystery. I have no clue where they came from but with the amount of cacophony they wretch I should! I know they’re form Canada, but figuratively speaking with the type of eerie, dragging death metal these guys play it’s only from the ground they could have possibly […]

Vortex (Decaying in Love Psychological Drama)
Have you ever watched a movie that rattled you deep to your core? The kind of film that you just can’t shake and the very thought brings tears to your eyes? Yeah, Vortex is one of those movies. Actually, it’s more than a mere piece of cinema, this is the dividing line where Gaspar […]

Metal Hellsinger (Death Metal Album Visualizer Doom Clone Crossover)
This video game is single-handedly one of the best metal albums of 2022 featuring guest appearances from: Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquility), Tatiana Shmayluk (Jinjer), Matt Heafy (Trivium), James Forton (Black Crown Initiate), Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork), Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God), Dennis Lyxzén (Refused And Invsn), and Serj Tankian (System […]

Astriferous – Pulsations from the Black Orb (Existential Death Metal)
It’s a sad day when I realize that this is only the second band from Costa Rica I’ve ever reviewed. Why sad? I just think it is, okay? Isn’t that enough? So Astriferous can be proud they’ve achieved the honor of second band from their home country on this very site. I mean that […]

71TONMAN – Of End Times (Absolute Funeral Sludge)
In spite of having one of the absolute worst band names I’ve ever heard of (seriously, come on guys wtf), 71TONMAN absolutely destroy, even though they bring it slow. Of End Times is my first exposure to their work, and, combining the drag of funeral doom combined with the edgier push of sludge, they […]

Infinity Pool (Murder Tourist Sci-Fi Horror Film)
Sometimes the fruit don’t fall far from the tree. After suffering through the career of Jennifer Chambers Lynch, it’s a high surprise that David Cronenberg’s son Brandon has arrived on the scene in such a rare talent, fully born and ready to kick ass. Possessor was loads of fun and very tough, but Infinity Pool kicks […]
