Blind Equation – A Funeral in Purgatory (Post-Cybergrind Glitch Goth)
The album’s visuals were my initial lifeline: a haunting blend of dark anime, raw glitch, and a somber, dripping grey palette that perfectly shrouded the band’s identity. But the moment the music hit, I was at an immediate impasse. This wasn’t a “grower”; it was an instant gauntlet, demanding a total reevaluation of music […]

City of the Living Dead (Evil Zombies 4K Slop)
Haunted by the absence of a reliable film critic, I finally swiped the cozy couch of fate myself and dove back into pure cinema trash. Not for enlightenment, but to waste my own time rather than delegate the job and pay for it. Still, unlike music, movies present their own unique difficulty in critique: […]

Mutant Sex Demon – Cutting Through (Perverse Black n’ Roll)
Here’s another “hot damn” type of release. Finland’s Nicolas Wallgren (aka Lord Warmoon), is at it again! I forget where I first heard about Mutant Sex Demon, I just remember laughing (in the best way possible), and I was excited, some time later, to see this supple full-length hitting the promo inbox. Adorned with […]

Warslaughter – Exacerbación (Excrement Covered Death Metal)
After that last review of the latest full-length from Morbyda, here we have another one that is judged easily by its cover. I like doing that, because good art tells a story, and when it tells a story as indeterminate, twisted, and dark as this one, fear level rises. Add to that drippy album […]

Morbyda – Under the Spell (Witch Metal Inferno)
Damn I love this shit. For some reason, though, I didn’t at first, but this is nowhere close to a “grower,” I should have got my shit together from day one son. That’s because Morbyda are the MFing gawds of this kind of metal folks. Do you hear me folks? Is it speed metal? […]

Autopsy Simulator (Work Like a Real Coroner and Hate Yourself Too)
Let me start by saying this is the first time a game disgusted me enough that I had to take breaks from it, and I’ve played a number of horrifying titles, such as Agony Unrated, among others. But there’s something about Autopsy Simulator that does it differently, and the simple answer is aside from […]

Affliction Vector – Contra Hominem (Arcane Black Metal of Much Spellcasting)
Dang I thought metal of this type only came out of Spain. I mean, I guess, somehow, Italy has some cultural links to Spain, but whatever, let me start simple. This shit’s mystical. There’s a particular form of metal from Spain that’s developed its sound in a way that oppresses without force and depresses […]

Golem of Gore – Ultimo Mondo Cane (Mondo Goregrind or, Perhaps, Mondogrind)
I was uncertain about reviewing this one at first because, well, goregrind sucks. But this one is coming from Italy, and the Italians certainly got their gore right in the film industry, and with the cover art for Ultimo Mondo Cane, which combines practically all of the Eurotrash horror imagery from the 1970s you […]

FLY! – …or Die! (Motorcycle Fume Huffing Dirty Aussie Rock)
Here’s something you all need a dose of, right into the nostrils and up into the brain. Dying Victim Productions has really been taking some chances with his releases in the past few years, giving due to bands no one has heard of yet, but that’s because dude has an ear for the good […]

Songs of Silence (Goated Dark Fantasy Turn-Based Combat)
I waited on this one. Being a fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic games, though primarily the second and third, Songs of Silence hit a nostalgic nerve upon its first announcement. If you’re not familiar with these types of games, they’re turn-based, fantasy combat with strategy (though this can vary depending on […]
