Mages Terror – Damnation’s Sight (Blackened Fantasy Thrash)
Sometimes I feel like bands just toss shit out when it comes to naming or just aren’t paying attention. Maybe it sounds cool and they don’t consider it further, I don’t know. But shouldn’t “Mages” in Mages Terror have an apostrophe? Does damnation really possess sight? I see an apostrophe on the label’s page […]

Skelethal – Within Corrosive Continuums (Aristocratic Death Metal)
I like skeletons. I also like skeleton words, and France’s Skelethal are rocking a skeleton word for their name. Now, to be honest, I’ve heard these guys before, I was just not a fan of the artwork on their last full-length (the last promo I remember receiving from them), but this time around, staring […]

Phantom Fury (Cyberpunk Militant FPS)
You’ve heard of all that Gamergate stuff, right? And now we’re on to 2.0 or something but I have a different ‘gate’ for you. How about gamers complaining about stuff like spoiled little babies? Everyone acts like games were released without bugs and issues back in the day lol. In the complex programming world […]

Sijjeel – Affiliation of Horrid Containment (Abominable Brutal Death Metal)
I feel bad I never reviewed a single promo submission I’ve received over the years from North Carolina’s Comatose Music until this very moment. You all know I’m picky, but why am I so harsh towards brutal death metal? I’m harsh towards everything. I hear too much similarity in style, I’m the hell out […]

Kryptonomicon – Daemonolatria (Renaissance Death Thrash)
I get these releases sometimes that are simply a standard type of solid and there’s not much else that needs added. But word count is king, so let’s keep going. Italy’s Kryptonomicon is a recent addition to the death thrash (some may say blackened death metal) horde of the world, but coupled with awesome […]

Dead Inside (Iconoclastic Horrotica)
This read is one I often see people who are just dipping their toe into extreme horror tend to pick up. I think the slower pace helps them to get into the groove, let’s them understand the kind of thing they may see, and that dead people fucking and baby eating is the tip […]

The Sadness – 哭悲 (Taiwanese Pandemic Body Horror)
The zombie thing is normally redundant, but, luckily, there are enough creative minds out there to twist the tropes into new forms that are easily understood, yet different in their themes. That brings us to a new 4K release from Vinegar Syndrome of the Taiwanese body horror slaughterfest, The Sadness, feature-length debut of Canadian […]

Gjendød – Livskramper (Dissonant Black Metal)
Black metal. From Norway. Well, that’s it, right? If you were referring to previous work by bizarro duo Gjendød you’d be right, honestly. Carrying the black metal torch is never easy, especially if you hail from the country from where it truly arose. For some, the flames of old were replaced by tiki torches, […]

Trog – Horrors Beyond (Devolved Horror Death Metal)
I don’t know what the hell that monster mess is on the cover of the first full-length from New Jersey’s Trog but I like it, a lot. Previously, and fairly recently, known under the name of “Troglorot” (whatever the hell that meant), Trog is mainly interested in death metal devolution, both musically and thematically. […]

Withering Rooms (Eldritch Horror Roguelike and Soulslike)
Alright, let’s talk about Withering Rooms, the 2.5D horror RPG from Moonless Formless and Perp Games, which dropped on April 5, 2024. This year’s been wild for roguelite games, and Withering Rooms is no exception. Imagine a roguelite horror game where you die and start over, classic, right? If you’ve played Have a Nice […]
